Once upon a time in there was a band called The Bhundu Boys. They were popular after Zimbabwe’s Liberation Struggle especially since their music was now allowed to be played on the airwaves. Their songs made people celebrate and jit jive lol but you see they also touched on social issues that affected the community. Simbimbino is one such song . It’s based on a moral fable about a husband who magically turned his wife into a wild pig and set a trap for her. She fell in the pit and died, the man was later arrested, tried in the king’s court and found guilty of murder, Justice prevailed. Through song there was a lesson there about the evils of domesticviolence https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.herald.co.zw/music-the-experiences-of-our-people/amp/

People at times underestimate the power of the written word and music, yet they go hand in hand you really can’t have one without the other and in our generation we have influential writers and I believe Anesu is one such. It generally takes a lot of commitment to be a writer and to be an influential writer takes a lot of soul and this blog is just that full of soul.

I loved going through Anesu’s blog. The thing about reading other people’s work is that you learn to appreciate the way the human mind works. I love how she can spin a story and still not make it hard to follow, you actually feel like you are a part of it. I love how she took us to the backyard in her mother’s garden hiding in the mango tree because she just wanted to have her own space then she took us to Anesu now whose mango tree is now pen and paper, I mean com’on!!

Her blog has inspired me in more ways than one. I love how she was a part of the 16 Days of Activism movement by profiling different poets (they might or they mightn’t have been 16 you will have to find out for yourself  )for the 16 days with each writing a piece towards GBV. Now that’s what we mean when we say “blogging is a ommunity” I enjoyed reading through each one of those posts and the honest truth is GBV is an issue close to home for a lot of people, one way or another you have a friend, cousin, sister, brother, uncle who has been affected by this and to have writers tug at our hearts strings and remind us of the importance of cherishing, loving and valuing each others is admirable so thank you Anesu’s for that initiative 😊

If you want a writer who can inspire you then you definitely want to follow and read her blog. I know I was inspired and you know what reading her blog has made me want to listen to some Feel Good Lira 🙂
