…..entry of an african blogger
Before Afrobloggers, I wasn’t aware there were as many bloggers and vloggers as I am exposed to now. And I am only exposed to a drop in the ocean there are so many more I do not even know about. There is so much to write about regarding blogging in Africa but I will talk about the paying side.
You know in other parts of the world people actually make a living out of blogging. I am talking the office sitting being your couch and laptop and your words… the money maker. For the past 13 days I have read some really amazing content and I just wonder from all the bloggers, who is actually getting paid?
From all the posts I read up on why I started blogging, I actually didn’t come across one person who started it for the money, but tell me has the idea never crossed your mind? To get paid for your words? I know, I know… not everything is about money and you would write for free but admit the idea does tickle your money bone. We all have organisations we crush on, that one organisation you really fancy and would love to be associated with, imagine them approaching you and saying, “hey we love your blog and would really love to pay you to blog for us or for us to advertise on your blog!”Whaaaaat??
I don’t know man, the idea sounds nice and so far I haven’t come across an African blogger who is talking about this. If there is please point me in the right direction?
I am not sure if it’s that the organisations haven’t picked up on the undeniable power of blogging? Cause let’s be honest we are powerful, our narratives are pretty darn amazing….
…..or is it that people don’t know what they need until someone shows them? Maybe as bloggers we need to grab the bull by the horns and go to these organisations and show them what they are missing out on, be a bit more assertive maybe?
I wonder if blogging in Africa cause we need to get those sheets, secure that bag… that is for us who wouldn’t mind not writing for free looool

Of course, I’ve flirted with the idea of getting paid to blog (again). That would be so good. I was last paid to write something in 2017.

I honestly wouldn’t mind 🤑🤑🤑

I flirt with this idea … all the time. For some reason securing the bag via blogging is a hard deal and you are right these corporates dont realise the power we wield, not fully, and I guess neither do we.
The world makes room for people who know(or seem to) where they are going.
