…..Dear Leaders
Thank you for allowing me to stand in front of you and speak from my heart.
There is one thing I have always wanted to say to you, thank you all for the struggles you have gone through to liberate us, I know it was not easy being young and fighting off the oppressors. Being young and leaving your families having to go to war to fight for yourselves and us your children. I know it was not easy burying family and friends all in the name of freedom.
I could never understand the pain of being pressed, being looked down upon because of skin color and not getting opportunities because of this. Now we do live in free lands, born free they call us cause we never experienced war, the ungrateful generation many have dared to call us.
We are forever grateful and indebted as you like to always remind us. In as much as we are born frees we fight our own daily wars, our own daily struggles. The way it is now is the way that is was, the only difference is now our oppressors are our liberators. I remember listening to most of your speeches when you were still young and in the war fronts, you used to say, ” we are fighting for the next generation so they have a better life they are the leaders of tomorrow!”
Just incase you hadn’t noticed, that generation is now, that generation you spoke about is here. One would think you still suffer from PTST from war and you draw up policies as if you are going to fight someone, you are fighting yourselves and we are tired of watching these self inflicted battles.
Kindly start thinking of succession plans and training the born frees before it is too late and history repeats itself all we ask is a chance, a chance for us to be included in key decision making changes. Our young doctors are the ones walking the hospital halls, but their minister is a guerilla who believes that the sick should heal themselves always ready incase grenades are thrown into the hospitals.
We are tired and deserve better, please respect us.
