#2018BOTY: Day 13
On the 13th day of Christmas my true love sent to me a letter of lessons learnt 🙂
If 2018 was Santa, his bag of presents would have been full of lessons for me. This year was just that… a learning a year.
One important thing I learnt was that you should never get so comfortable building someone elses’ brand/vision/ dreams such that you forget about you and your own.
What do I mean? Do not take ownership of what is not yours because in as much as you might invest a lot of time and energy into it, at the end of the day it’s not yours and believe you me, you don’t want to learn that the hard way!!
I understand that there are people whose purpose in life is generally to do that, push anothers vision till it grows or see someone else’s dream to the end, they are definitely there they are called “right hand men.” These people are very important, very very important cause they push and it’s important to treat them right, the loyal ones reward them, the kind ones love them. The important thing is to remember that even if you are a right hand man you should never forget about you. I am sure you had your own dreams, places you wanted to travel, dining experiences you wanted to explore etc, go for it.
Don’t allow your life to revolve around one person because honestly their life is going on and it probably doesn’t revolve around you, hell they probably couldn’t be bothered about your well being so take care of you, do you, love you, take time off and just live a little.
At times you get so caught up building another person you forget about you, which is really sad. Learn a new skill just for you, Just for your own self development. Already we are living on borrowed time, why should you use up all that time on someone else, worse off someone who doesn’t see your worth and value, it’s just not worth it at the end of the day. It’s like being given a blank cheque, it would be foolish to start buying trivial things before buying the important things because at least when the person then says you have reached your limit you have the important stuff already, so don’t waste your already used up borrowed time on trivial things, use it up for important things. I know how it feels to miss out on important life moments because you are building someone else’s dream, it shouldn’t be like that, when they reclaim their dream boy oh boy lol they take it all plus elements of you.
Treat people right, people are going through so much you don’t know where the next person is coming from or going to so treat everyone right! So lesson learnt be jealous with yourself, your time and money.
